Natick Historical Society photograph collection, 1858-2007.

An artificial collection consisting of photographs donated to Natick Historical Society by many different sources. The collection concentrates on photographs of people and places in Natick and includes photographs of leading citizens and families such as the Cheneys, Stowes, Algers, and Walcotts. It also includes photographs of places throughout the town including Natick center, South Natick, Eliot Street, East and West Central Streets, the Charles River and dam, ponds, parks, and landmarks. There are photos of schools, the fire department, police department and other town departments as well as events such as parades, dedications, and Fourth of July celebrations. Leisure activities are represented by photographs of sports teams and players along with organizations and societies in town such as fraternal organization and women's clubs. Also includes photographs depicting Natick's economic growth with views of businesses, factories, and farms. Many of the early images were created by Edgar Hayes and Horace H. Potter. Persons represented in the photographs include Henry Wilson, U.S. Vice President, and his family.
